This month, we are featuring Dr. Jyoti Gupta, President of Volk Optical, a medical device company that is specifically focused in ophthalmology and eye health. She plays a crucial role in leading the company to develop innovative lenses and imaging solutions commonly used by optometrists and ophthalmologists across the world to visualize the eye for disease detection and treatment. At Volk Optical, Jyoti is working to take eye care one step further to try to connect with people across the world to eyecare.

Scientists at the California Institute of Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences have discovered a new way to track the global warming of the Earth's oceans: using sound. Due to the sheer volume and depth of the ocean, it is extremely difficult for scientists to obtain accurate temperature measurements. Processes are already in place to take these measurements, such as using thousands of automated floats, though they have their inaccuracies as well.

Firstly, what are liposomes? Liposomes are one of the main components behind the effectiveness of skincare's absorption into the skin. At their core, liposomes are tiny bubbles made out of the same material as a skin cell membrane.

EJ started her journey by studying International Relations and Political Science. She pursued a career in diplomacy to "make a difference in the world". Due to the demand of constant relocation that jobs in this field would require, EJ decided to change her career path and focus on starting her family. She received her MBA from Yonsei University, and began some consulting work, leading to her current role at Jenax.

She is an activist for eliminating race as a risk factor for improper medical care and seeks to spread awareness around the topic. As healthcare concerns have hit an all-time high in the wake of COVID-19, Maybank’s work is more important than ever.
